After 30 years, our beloved arena is out of date and out of space. As McFarland and Dane County continue to grow, so must the Ice Arena evolve to meet future demands. That’s why we’re embarking on an exciting expansion project to bring this cherished facility into the 21st century.
Our Vision for the Future
An exciting expansion of the McFarland Community Ice Arena will ensure that generations of athletes can enjoy world-class facilities and learn invaluable skills for another 30 years. Our plan for a modernized expanded facility includes 13,500 square feet of additional space, over a 50% increase in the overall size of the arena.
This expansion plan includes:
- State-of-the-Art Practice Rink
- Off-Ice Shooting Lanes
- New Locker Rooms
- Dryland Training Area
- Dedicated High School Locker Room
- Expanded Lobby
30 Years of Success
For over 30 years, McFarland Community Ice Arena (MCIA) has stood as a testament to the power of community spirit and vision. Our facility serves a staggering 25,000 athletes and fans every year from McFarland and across Dane County, fostering athletic excellence and community bonds. MCIA supports over 30 different clubs and organizations serving a wide variety of youth and adult athletes and recreationalists who are passionate about hockey, figure skating and speed skating.
Our Humble Beginnings
In 1994, a group of dedicated parents and community members in the sleepy village of McFarland had a dream — to build an indoor community ice rink. Through sheer determination and hard work, that dream became a reality, and the McFarland Community Ice Arena was born.
